I only have a couple J frames. I always found them uncomfortable to shoot. Especially this old Airweight. But, this was my fathers M37 and it has a permanent place in my heart.

This one has a little history to it. It's a S&W Military & Police Model of 1905 (Target), 4th change. It was presented to PC (Police Constable) Robert Umphrey Badge# 387 of the Toronto Police Dept (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) in 1931 after winning a bullseye shooting competition. Presented to him by the Chief of Police who at the time was a Brigadier General. As per the S&W historical letter it was shipped to Leaside Hardware and Dry Goods (Toronto) in May 1931. This revolver was found in a shoe box buried in a closet of the Umphrey home as it was being cleaned out to sell by the Daughter of Robert Umphrey. She had no idea it was there and had never seen it before. Robert Umphrey joined the Toronto Police Dept in 1910 and retired in 1942. He died in the late 50's. A neighbour of the Daughter is a friend of mine and suggested that I be the new custodian. I served with the same Police Dept from 1978-2015 and for a time worked in the same Police Station as PC Umphrey did decades earlier. The last pic was taken for a newspaper article in the Toronto Star in 1940. PC Umphrey is on the far right.

Love the original Combat Grips, Tom! I believe yours is a Lew Horton. I purchased a (new) S&W 24-3 with the original magna grips. But always dug the Lew Horton Combats! Very nice, Sir!
