I have an AK74 which runs the 5.45x39 (ballistically about the same as the 5.56 rounds) and have a ton of ammo and want to reduce the number of calibers I have have to stock.

A barrel in 5.45
Mags in 5.45
Bolt carrier group and extractor?
Any mods to the gas tube/gas block?

I can get the Barrel made, I'm pretty sure of that - but finding the bolt assembly has been hard to find - would have been pretty cool to use my Loki Upper for a 5.45 build.

I'm pretty sure Taymoor is correct here. You will also need a heavier hammer spring and a good cleaning kit because that super cheap Spam can ammo is corrosive and has a primer that will make a JP 3.5 # trigger or any trigger useless.

Model 1 Sales and S&W are the only two places I know if for the bolt and barrel. I have been trying hard to ruin this crappy 16" carbine barrel so that I could order the 20" rifle length from model 1.

Maybe JP will buy your 16'' barrel? Jesse, I enjoyed shooting your MR3GR (mother Russia 3 gun rifle). trigger was heavy but crisp. recoil was negligable. I have been considering some kind of soviet upper myself for the future.

Dude, seriously! The only thing 5.45x39 is good for is practice and the zombie apocalypse. The mags suck! The onky reasonably good ammo is Horandy steel match which isn't even 1 MOA.

Quit trying to be different and build a JP clone on a Stag or Loki Chassis. Yes that's me being mean and the voice of reason at one time.

Does Eric do sales directly to e public from his shop in Atoka? I didn't know if he was set up to do that or if he just sold to FFL holders. If he sells directly, I wonder if he would let me pick up a couple lowers from him there and offer the group deal? It is only 14 miles from my house... I guess I needto call him. It seems like the only time I think about it is nighttime or on the weekend..
