Those are the grips that came on the pistol from Colt; believe they're made by MIL-TAC.

Nope, that's how it came from Colt (the Special Combat model is from Colt's Custom Shop). The hard chrome may make the rollmarks "pop" a bit more.

This one started out as a blued gun.

Alchemy changed out some of the factory parts, performed an action/trigger job, and did a range of upgrades (e.g., serrations on top/back of slide, nub and bevel slide stop, checkering, gold bead).

Hard chrome can be removed. The plater essentially reverses the process. It's done with aircraft axles, trunions and hydraulic components when parts are inspected and refurbished.
