Wanting to get my M&P slide bead blasted and give it the 2 tone look. Any suggestions on where to get that done?

Look up www.hillbilly223.com

Good guy from Arkansas..does awesome work

I suggest you dont, unless its a range gun and you oil and wipe it down religiously.
it will discolor and surface rust if not.

I thought M&P slides were stainless, Mikey. Are they weaksauce stainless?

True. My M&P slide is magnetic. The 316 grade of Stainless I've worked with is not magnetic, but those in the 400 + grade are.
I'm guessing that S&W slides are 416 stainless, which can be heat treated, and is the most machinable grade of stainless steel?
Just speculating on what they actually use.

Like everyone else said, stainless will still get surface corrosion but is much less prone to the nasty pitting or exfoliation corrosion. With a slide you might be prone to some galvanic corrosion from dissimilar metals as well.

I made some airplane parts out of 410 at work, they go in a spot where there's a bunch of condensation and airflow, they grew freckles after one flight. We were upset.

Thanks for the replies, the reason I'm interested is because there has been some slide work done and it has already exposed the stainless so I deal with the wipe downs currently, I simply want it to all look even. I'm tired of guys in iowa bitching at non sanctioned IDPA matches about my "fast looking" gun. I'll look into the cerakote.

Should have had them passivated, would have stopped the corrosion.

I can do the media blast, but, like others stated you would be much happier to go ahead and put a silver cerakote on it. which I do as well.
