how do you keep moisture off or get rid of it to keep rust away.?
don't want to clean every day.
have been wiping down and spraying with wd40 or some other kind of lube.

Thanks

How do you prepare a pistol/revolver for carry.
Ruger Speed 6, Colt 1911 same thing.

Tear down & clean everything with Brake spray aka. Gun scrubber.
Inside spray Rem dri or dry PTFE over & in everything.

Outside use flitz Gun wax twice & let dry.
I have used this on many knives & other outside gear with great results.

Your just gonna pull & fire your 1911 in self defence, your not going into Combat.
So why oil & grease everything & make a dirt catcher out of U gun.

I would not let WD 40 in the room with my guns.........water based.

For my carry guns I wipe them down in the am before I holster. Wild Bill Hickock would shoot his guns empty and clean and wipe them down at the end of every day and start each day with new ammo.

If it's a blued gun you're fighting a losing battle! Bluing itself is a controlled rust process and is useless in preventing rust. I've carried concealed for over 40 years here in the desert southwest and my advice is to get either a stainless gun (which can still rust depending on the conditions and the stainless alloy used) or get a gun with a good finish like DLC. A hard chrome finish is also pretty durable, but electroless nickel isn't. I once had a 1911 electroless nickel plated and within two years of carrying it concealed it had started to show pitting.
