OKC Gun Club Multi-Gun

You should trade up for an AK74 with the mount on the left side of the receiver for a scope. Contrary to popular belief, the 5.45mm round is as accurate as the .223; it just needs to come out of a decent barrel.

I'd like to try a 74 as well, I'd still do it with the irons tho - not a big fan of optics.

I'm not either; they're girly, like ARs. But I was disappointed in spending so many rounds shooting the rifle-only stage, even though I hit all my targets within the 180 seconds. 12 bullets worth of target cost me almost 60 cartridges.

That is a realy good point. With shooting like JP you could pay for a Swarovski for they AK74 in ammo savings in 2-3 matches.

Our very own wall - not nearly as high production as my man Jesse - but it was only Wall. :P

and savings the monies only happens when the shooter performs well!!!

Plus the ammo was between 4 and 5 a box - I may have hit all the targets within 6 boxes!

this is very true - what were you using at the match?
An AR, of course. Mine is a generic M4-style carbine with a Punisher skull on the lower. I was planning on running an FN FAL, originally, to up the manly factor. 3Gun is an AR game, what with all the fast shooting and the ability shoot even faster by reducing the recoil by rebarreling and adding a compensator. I built my AR from a kit to keep it cheap, have a usable gun, and then later find out what I would change about it. And after having shot the match, I think I'd get a longer barrel w/ a rifle-length gas port and a Rolling Thunder compensator. Shooting in that rotating barrel was awful with a 16" AR, and I had to climb pretty far in to deal with the noise and pressure.

The 300 yard target was tough-ish with irons, but I think an AK74 would have been all the same. It's the AK47 that has the 14" group at that range that makes it difficult to accept as a 3Gun weapon. It's more of a killing machine than a game accessory.

I also shot my G17 this time, but I think next time I may use the 1911. The faster lock time and better trigger are irrefutable. My shotgun is a Benelli Super Black Eagle that has been partially upgraded by Accurate Iron, and partially upgraded by me.

Scores are posted in the match results section. Congrats to Perry who was the only shooter not to get a miss or penalty on stage 2..

I will have my handgun soon - lots of trigger time with it too and I'll be ready for the long range with my AK.
