Outdoor Ranges

we have no outdoor ranges in the summerville, goose creek area. what can we do to try to get one down here? are they county properties, who can I call. i know a few people in polotics, maybe i can ask them. any info appreciated.

Yes there is....palmetto gun club outside of Summerville.

You might try talking to the SC DNR, I know they operate one in Pickens and I think they have one in Union

Palmetto is 12 miles from I26, would be nice to have one around Carnes Crossroads or Jedburg, kinda in the middle.

The two in my area are operated by USDA Forest Service (Philson Crossroads) and SC DNR (Pickens).

If you or a buddy works with MeadWestvaco, they have a private range that they guys in Waterboro don't let many of the other employees know about. It features 25 yard, 50 yard, 100 yard, and 200 yard lanes. I didn't find out about it until AFTER I left MeadWestvaco.

Other than that, Boggy Head and twin Ponds are your only free choices, and they are about 40+ miles away from you.
