Why do I have to focus most binoculars but not scopes? I see a few fixed focus binoculars out there; does anyone have experience with any of them? Seems like with every pair of binoculars I have used, I spend way too much time focusing.

Probably because it involves focusing both eyes. That is why binocs have one side with extra adjustment features for differing eye vision. Are your eyes both the same?

Same issue even if closing one eye. Think more depth of field - for example, a camera with a low f/stop will focus very narrowly, where at higher numbers you get greater depth of field.
